Çalık Petroleum Search and Production Industry and Trade Inc. was established in 2012. It began its operations in Turkmenistan in 2003 as the Oil and Gas Department of Çalık Enerji. The drilling of 27 high-pressure and high-temperature wells for Turkmenistan's National Petroleum Company has been successfully completed.
The company began its oil and natural gas exploration and production activities in Türkiye in 2006 with two exploration licenses in the Thrace Region. It also continued its exploration activities in licenses within the Diyarbakır-Mardin provinces and discovered oil in the Çalıktepe-1 well in 2010.
In 2010, the company formed a strategic partnership with Canadian-based Anatolia Energy Inc. for eight exploration licenses it holds in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. As part of this partnership, seismic data collection and exploration well drilling were conducted in 2011-2012.
The company also focused on conventional and unconventional oil production, conducting analyses at the Çalıktepe-2 well in 2011. Production began with the discovery of oil in the West Çalıktepe-1 well, and in 2016, it discovered the South Çalıktepe Field with the South Çalıktepe-1 well.
In 2016, Çalık Petrol formed a strategic partnership with US-based High Power Petroleum LLC for the Cudi, Pervari, and Botan Projects. As part of this partnership, 200 km of seismic data was collected from 10 pipelines in 2022.
Currently, production continues with two wells in the West Çalıktepe Field and eight wells in the South Çalıktepe Field. As of January 2023, total production reached 1.5 million barrels. Additionally, the Çöltepe/Salat, Taşönü, and Çukurbaşı fields were discovered in 2021. The company continues exploration activities in 11 licensed fields and oil production in 17 wells across six operating fields.
Çalık Petrol aims to increase hydrocarbon production and contribute to the national economy through its licenses and new ventures abroad.
