Electricity Supply Board (ESB) was established in 1927 as a statutory corporation in the Republic of Ireland. With a holding of 95%, ESB is majority owned by the Irish Government with the remaining 5% held by the trustees of an Employee Share Ownership Plan.
Since ESB was established it has always endeavoured to bring light and energy to the people it serves, allowing individuals and communities to fulfil their potential in every walk of life. This is achieved not only through the provision of critical energy infrastructure, but also through ESB's contribution to the economy in the form of investment, taxes, dividends and jobs.
