Turkmenneft operates the Keimir Area in southwest Turkmenistan. It contains four producing fields: Keimir, Akpatlavukh, Chekichler and Kemer. Keimir and Akpatlavukh are the largest deposits.The project has been 100% Turkmen-owned since 2000. This followed a legal dispute between the Turkmen government and Bridas (Argentina). All court rulings were in Bridas's favour, and the Turkmen government paid an undisclosed sum to acquire the company's share of the Keimir JV.
Turkmenneft is engaged in oil and gas production, chemical products, drinking and industrial water and bentonite. The copany also deals with drilling operations and research activities to increase production.
Turkmenneft cooperates with various foreign companies to drill oil and gas wells, and to conduct the overhaul required to modernise oil and gas fields equipment and oil pipelines and to construct new pipelines.
The main oil fields operated by Turkmenneft are Koturdepe, Barsagelmes, Nebitdag, Korpeje, Kamyshlyja, Chekelen, and Kemer, situated mainly in the Balkan Province near the Caspian Sea.
