Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad is Malaysia's first listed independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The Company was incorporated as a private limited company, Hibiscus Petroleum Sdn Bhd, on 5 December 2007, under the Companies Act, 1965. On 20 December 2010, it assumed its current name upon conversion into a public company. Hibiscus Petroleum was listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 25 July 2011 as the first Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) in South-East Asia. Following the completion of the acquisition of a 35% stake in Lime Petroleum Plc (Lime) in April 2012, Hibiscus Petroleum is now a fully fledged oil and gas exploration and production company.
