Strike Energy Completes Jaws-1 Drilling Project

30/04/2018

Strike Energy Limited provides the following update as at 6:00 hours Sunday 29th April 2018 on drilling operations for the Jaws-1 Project.

Since the last update, Strike has successfully completed drilling the Jaws-1 horizontal well to a total measured depth of 2,880m. This includes intercepting the vertical well which is the deepest horizontal/vertical intercept achieved in the history of Australian drilling operations.

The horizontal section of the wellbore was placed within the siltstone interburden beneath the Vu Upper and above the Vu Lower coal seams. It is estimated that the wellbore is less than 2m underneath the Vu Upper coal seam according to gamma ray logs and vertical stratigraphic calibration.

Strike is now preparing to run the liner and fracture stimulation sleeves into the wellbore which will allow the well to be hydraulically stimulated before final completion and installation of artificial lift pumps. As per the last announcement the Vu Upper coal will be fracture stimulated from below the seam utilising the Indirect Vertical Fracture Completion (IVFC) technique.

The Jaws-1 Project wells are being drilled by Halliburton in collaboration with Ensign on the 965 rig. The horizontal well is the second of the two well appraisal campaign designed to prove commercial flow rates of gas and assess the quality of Strike’s Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project (SCBGP) in PEL96 (Strike 66.67% and Operator, Energy World Corporation 33.33%).
