Environmental License Secured for Cuba Block 9 Drilling

30/04/2018

Melbana Energy Limited provide the following update on Cuba Block 9.

Melbana has been notified of the granting of the Environmental License for the proposed Alameda-1 exploration well, by the Ministry of Science Technology and environment regulatory authority. This provides environmental approval of the planned activities for the preferred first well in the two well exploration program in Block 9 proposed by Melbana.

The Environmental License, coupled with the previously reported granting of the Microlocalisation Permit (see ASX Release dated 31 January 2018), are key inputs into the subsequent “Permit to Work” and the final “Approval to Drill” to be granted by the relevant Cuban regulatory authorities for the drilling of Alameda-1.

Melbana’s CEO Robert Zammit commented:
“Our Cuba and Melbourne based drilling team is continuing to progress the necessary permits through the well-defined Cuban regulatory process. We are pleased to reach this milestone and look forward to finalizing all regulatory approvals for the Alameda-1 well. Our team is also working to progress the same regulatory approvals for the Zapato exploration well, which are also progressing as expected.”
