TROIS Geoconsulting, in partnership with GeoPartners Ltd, have recently acquired Phase 1 of a Multibeam, Piston Core, Heatflow and Seep Sampling Survey offshore Suriname. The survey was acquired on behalf of government partners Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V.
Phase 1:
This 50,000 sq km multi-client program, which was industry supported, was acquired by the TDI-Brooks Brooks R/V Gyre vessel, with full results now available.
The survey program included:
- High-definition seabed bathymetry (MBES) with backscatter signal analysed to detect hydrocarbon seeps.
- Seabed piston cores located using MBES data, combined with vintage seismic data.
- Geochemical analysis of cores samples to reveal geochemical data & source of any potential seep.
- Heatflow measurements to calibrate basin modelling studies.
- The data can also be used for environmental baseline work, shallow hazard detection and seabed infrastructure planning.
Phase 2:
Parties are now invited to pre-fund Phase 2 of the programme, to cover the shallow water areas, with early participants able to influence core locations and areas for coverage.
