Silixa to provide fibre optic well logging services for major North Sea operator

11/07/2021

Silixa is to partner with Altus Intervention for the provision of fibre optic well logging services with a major operator in the North Sea region

Having entered into a strategic partnership with Silixa Ltd. earlier in the year, Altus Intervention Scandinavia has been awarded a long-term agreement with a major NCS Operator for the integrated delivery of well intervention technology and services.

Within the scope of this agreement Silixa will be delivering fibre optic well logging services utilising the company’s cutting-edge Carina® 100XLog solution.

Carina 100XLog transforms a conventional e‑line or slickline unit into a true distributed fibre optic sensing system, enabling data acquisition from every point along the length of the well simultaneously and continuously without the need to move the logging cable.

This not only means that the entire well can be interrogated with much less operating time than is required to move a conventional sensor across all depths of interest, but it also ensures more precise diagnostics in challenging scenarios where well activity, or leak may only be active for a short period, as such events can still be rapidly identified without the need for repeated cycles.

Silixa and Altus‘s collaborative approach, combining Carina 100XLog with conventional downhole sensors, gauges and powered mechanical services can provide converging multi-physics answers to downhole challenges, enabling operators to make faster and better decisions to improve efficiency.
