Engie appoints Catherine MacGregor as new CEO

06/10/2020

The Board of Directors has appointed Catherine MacGregor Chief Executive Officer of ENGIE. Catherine MacGregor's vision of the transformation and development of the Group, her industrial and international experience as well as her leadership and recognized managerial qualities will fully contribute to the implementation of the strategic orientations presented at the end of July.

This decision, which will take effect on January 1, 2021, comes at the end of a selection process led by Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, Françoise Malrieu and the members of the Appointments, Remuneration and Governance Committee, responding to the better governance standards. In addition, her appointment as a director of the Group will be proposed to the General Meeting in 2021.

Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, Chairman of the Board of Directors, declared:
“On behalf of the Board and of the Group's employees, I warmly welcome Catherine MacGregor and every success in her missions. His professional and personal qualities will be an essential asset in accelerating the transformation of ENGIE. I look forward to our collaboration in the months and years to come to effectively implement our strategic directions. I warmly thank Paulo Almirante, Judith Hartmann and Claire Waysand who will continue to assume the general management of the transition until January 1 ”.

Catherine MacGregor said:
“I thank the Board of Directors for the confidence it has placed in me. This trust honors me and commits me. On the strength of our common industry culture and my operational experience, I will be keen, along with all the teams, to meet the major challenges that await us to enable ENGIE to accelerate the energy transition ”.

A graduate of École Centrale Paris, Catherine MacGregor began her career at Schlumberger in 1995 where she spent 23 years in positions of responsibility on all continents.

From 2007, she held world-class positions, as Group HRD or at the head of strategic activities for the company. From 2013 to 2016, she also held the position of President Europe & Africa at Schlumberger, before being promoted in 2017 to President of the Drilling activity, while being based in London.

In the summer of 2019, she made the choice to pursue her career in energy by joining the Executive Committee of the TechnipFMC Group to lead the onshore and offshore engineering and construction activities, Technip Energies. Its main mission consisted in particular in preparing for the split and the listing of this entity, whose energy transition it wanted to be at the heart of the strategy.
