15/09/2020

Step Change in Safety announces the appointment of two senior industry figures to its Leadership Team.

Graeme Gordon, VP Operations, bp North Sea, and Laure Mandrou, Europe General Manager for the Reservoir Performance, Schlumberger, have now taken up their positions on the Leadership Team, which is responsible for planning and monitoring the activities of the safety organisation.

As VP Operations, Graeme is accountable for ensuring safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operations for bp’s North Sea business. During his many years with bp, Graeme has held a number of engineering and operational leadership roles. This includes most recently, Site Operations Director for Global Operations, Area Operations Manager for the Deepwater FPSOs in Angola for PSVM in Angola and for ETAP/Andrew/Harding in the North Sea.

In his career within the petrochemicals business he has worked across downstream, midstream and upstream all of which involved site-based roles. In his last full-time site role, he had the privilege of being OIM for the Magnus facility.

Originally from the north east of Scotland, Graeme brings a deep operational background and is a strong safety leader based on his desire that the full workforce needs to understand risk and have input into the improvements we need to make. Graeme also has a passion for mentoring and developing people.

With more than two decades of industry experience, Laure Mandrou began her career as a mechanical design engineer before moving on to hold several management and leadership positions in France, the USA and Russia. Her previous roles include Director of Operations Integrity and VP of Marketing and Technology.

In her current position as Europe General Manager for the Reservoir Performance division, based in Aberdeen, Laure is responsible for wirelines testing services, coil tubing and stimulations services operations. Laure says she's honoured to be joining the Step Change in Safety Leadership team and commented: “I believe we have the utmost responsibility to keep our employees, families and ourselves safe, and that by summing our efforts we can do it. I am very pleased to join the Step Change in Safety leadership team to contribute in making the UK oil and gas industry a safer place for all.”

Welcoming the new appointments, Step Change in Safety Executive Director Steve Rae said;
“As I welcome Laure and Graeme to the team I do so with the knowledge that they will add extensive industry experience and an unquestionable commitment to safety in an already strong leadership team.

"As our industry continues to face uncertain times, and what can only be described as a challenging journey ahead, it’s reassuring to know that we have a leadership team that is well positioned and resourced to develop a synergised approach to leading our industry's safety agenda.”
