Gold Mines of Floating Off shore Wind

17/06/2020

With the launch of Scotwind, which has a significant proportion of sites suitable for floating wind, along with the UK Government’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) consultation on the next CfD allocation round including floating wind, 2020 is becoming the year when floating wind could take off in the UK. Floating wind is also now seen as a requirement to meet the 2030 and 2050 net-zero targets, so it is important to understand where in the UK floating wind may be possible.

With this in mind, Xodus has developed a modelling tool that allows their experts to identify where the ideal locations are; the so-called “gold mines” of floating wind, and where we can expect to see a rush for development.
