Gulf of Mexico Weather Update

03/06/2020

Occidental is carefully tracking Tropical Storm Cristobal as it moves toward the Gulf of Mexico. To ensure the safety of their people and protection of the environment, the company are removing non-essential personnel from some of their central GOM facilities. All of the company's facilities in the Gulf remain operational at this time.

BP started evacuating workers from offshore operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday because of the threat from Tropical Storm Cristobal, which is expected to strike the Louisiana coast by Sunday.

BP was cutting production at its Thunder Horse, Atlantis and Na Kika platforms because of Cristobal.

Other oil companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico, including BP, Chevron, Exxon, Hess, Murphy, and Shell, are monitoring the situation but have so far not decided to remove staff from deepwater platforms.
