Despite these turbulent times, operational activity continues and below is a recap of contract awards secured since the fallout of the COVID-19 epidemic and oil price collapse.

Upstream

30/04/2020: The hybrid jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid has been awarded a contract for the drilling of three wells and plugging of one on the Martin Linge field. Maersk Drilling will also get a framework contract with Equinor. 

The value of the contract is estimated at some USD 100 million, including rig modifications and upgrades and exclusive of intervention activities, integrated services and any incentive payments for safe and efficient operations.

29/04/2020: McDermott International announced CB&I Storage Solutions has been awarded one large and two sizeable contracts for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction (EPFC) of 38 tanks and 13 spheres in multiple locations across Saudi Arabia. 

29/04/2020: Wood has been appointed as an engineering partner in a five-year partnership framework agreement with Sasol. The agreement is to support Sasol’s portfolio of assets across South Africa. Wood will provide integrated services to Sasol from feasibility studies and front end engineering design, through to engineering, procurement and construction.

27/04/2020: Fugro has secured a long-term contract for two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and a full survey positioning package on Global Marine Group’s (GMG’s) newly chartered vessel, the Normand Clipper. 

GMG are in the process of upgrading the Normand Clipper in preparation for projects this summer and both the ROV systems and the survey package will be installed ready for future operations from Fugro’s remote operations centre (ROC) in Aberdeen, Scotland. 

24/04/2020: Rever Offshore has announced a major contract win, based in the Southern North Sea. The £multi-million contract, which was awarded by Perenco UK as part of the larger Southern Hub Area Redevelopment Project (SHARP), comprises two campaigns which will take place over the course of the next 18 months and see Rever install a rigid riser and complete the pipeline tie-in diverting production from the Leman AC Platform to the Leman AP Platform, in addition to conducting pre-commissioning work.

22/04/2020: Fugro has secured an initial 3-year contract with Well-Safe Solutions, a UK-based offshore well decommissioning service provider. 

Fugro will deliver their integrated marine-based solution onboard the Well-Safe Guardian rig, Well-Safe Solutions’ bespoke semi-submersible unit for executing subsea well decommissioning work.

21/04/2020: TechnipFMC has been awarded a significant integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contract by Woodside for the development of the Lambert Deep and Phase 3 of the Greater Western Flank fields, located offshore Northwestern Australia.

14/04/2020: THREE60 ENERGY, through its Step Change Engineering division, has been awarded an engineering and support services contract to provide minor modification and repair services for Spirit Energy’s UKCS assets.

14/04/2020: Subsea 7 announced the award of contracts by Chevron U.S.A Inc. for subsea installation services related to the Anchor field, located in the Green Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico.

Subsea 7’s scope of work includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the SURF components including, but not limited to, the production flowlines, risers, umbilicals, flying leads, jumpers, and associated appurtenances. 

01/04/2020: Applied Petroleum Technology has been awarded a global frame agreement by Wintershall Dea to supply geochemical analyses for the energy company’s E&P efforts around the world. Under the agreement, Applied Petroleum Technology will provide geochemical analyses including consultancy services to deliver interpretation of drilling samples and other reservoir data.

01/04/2020: Tendeka has signed a three-year contract with Mubadala Petroleum to supply sand-face completion equipment in Thailand. The deal will see Tendeka supply its FloElite sand screens and FloSure Autonomous Inflow Control Devices (AICDs) to Mubadala Petroleum’s Jasmine, Manora and Nong Yao fields in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract also has the option of two one-year extensions.

31/03/2020: Worley has been awarded an extension to an existing services contract with Chevron Australia Pty Ltd.  The term is for two years and extends upon the initial contract, which was first awarded in 2013.  

Under the contract, engineering and procurement services will be provided to support Chevron’s Australian assets, including the Gorgon project, one of the world’s largest commercial‐scale carbon dioxide injection facilities and the Wheatstone project, Australia’s first natural gas hub. Services typically include delivery of brownfield modification projects and operational support.  

30/03/2020: McDermott International has been awarded a sizeable contract by BHP Billiton Petróleo Operaciones de México, S. De R.L. De C.V. (BHP) to provide pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) services for a floating production unit (FPU) that will be installed in a water depth of approximately 8,200 feet (2,500 meters) at the Trion field, located approximately 19 miles (30 kilometers) south of the U.S./Mexico border and approximately 112 miles (180 kilometers) from the Mexican coastline. 

The pre-FEED scope includes engineering tasks related to the configuration, sizing and preliminary analysis of the FPU, including topsides, hull, risers and mooring. 

18/03/2020: Tendeka has secured a four-year contract to supply its zonal isolation technologies across a leading operator’s Malaysian assets.

The contract was awarded through Tendeka’s partner in the region, Dialog Systems Sdn Bhd (DSSB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dialog Group Bhd, one of Malaysia’s leading technical service providers in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

18/03/2020: BW Offshore has signed a five-year contract for the lease and operation of the BW Pioneer on the Cascade and Chinook fields on behalf of MP Gulf of Mexico, LLC (MP GOM) with a five-year option to extend. The firm period commences in direct continuation of the current contract and lasts until March 2025.

11/03/2020: TechnipFMC has been awarded a significant integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (iEPCI™) contract from BP Angola for the Platina field development, located offshore Angola in Block 18 at water depths ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 meters.

The contract covers the manufacture, delivery and installation of the subsea equipment including subsea trees, a production manifold with associated subsea control and connection systems, as well as rigid pipelines, umbilicals and flexible jumpers.

06/03/2020: Aker BP and Framo have entered into a long-term contract for seawater lift pumps where compensation is directly linked to facility uptime. This is an important step in the modernisation of the Norwegian shelf.

In 2018, the two companies and the technology company Cognite embarked upon a digital pilot effort for predictive maintenance of the seawater lift pumps on the Aker BP-operated Ivar Aasen field. The pilot has been a resounding success. Therefore, on Thursday, 5 March 2020, the companies signed a new maintenance contract which covers all of the five field centres where Aker BP is operator. 

05/03/2020: INPEX Masela, Ltd. (INPEX), a subsidiary of INPEX CORPORATION, has awarded Fugro a large marine survey contract for the Abadi liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Indonesia. 

Fugro will perform geophysical and geotechnical surveys and the associated studies needed to support front-end engineering design (FEED) for offshore production facilities and the submarine pipeline to the onshore LNG terminal. Geo-data will be acquired using Fugro’s deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Echo Surveyor and their robotic seafloor drill, Seafloor Drill 2, deployed from Indonesian support vessels.

05/03/2020: Azerbaijan International Operating Co. (AIOC) has awarded Worley a contract for engineering, procurement and construction services as part of a gas lift project. AIOC is operated by BP.

Under the contract, Worley will provide engineering, procurement and construction services to support production operations on the Chirag platform in the Caspian Sea. The project scope includes new gas lift flowlines and production manifolds.

04/03/2020: Bowleven confirmed the award of a contract to TechnipFMC to appoint them as lead FEED ("Front End Engineering Design") contractor in respect of the proposed development of the offshore IM gas condensate field at Etinde, Cameroon.

04/03/2020: Subsea 7 announced the award of a substantial contract by Murphy Exploration and Production Company - USA for the subsea installation services related to the Samurai, Khaleesi, and Mormont developments tying back to the King’s Quay semi-submersible. The King’s Quay host facility is approximately 175 miles south of New Orleans in the Green Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico.

This contract covers the tie back of seven subsea wells to the King’s Quay host facility. The project scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of all subsea equipment including PLETs, PLEMs, umbilicals and distribution hardware, production and export flowlines and jumpers, as well as the wet tow in the Gulf of Mexico to the fields and mooring system installation of the semi-submersible FPS.

04/03/2020: Subsea 7 announced the award of a large contract by ConocoPhillips Australia Barossa Pty Ltd to deliver the SURF scope for the Barossa Project. The Barossa field is located 300 km offshore Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia.

03/03/2020: Maersk Drilling has been awarded a one-well contract for the semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer offshore Egypt. The contract has an estimated duration of 21 days and is expected to commence in March 2020, in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract. The contract value is approximately USD 3.8m.

02/03/2020: Ampelmann has added Guyana as a new market to its global portfolio. In a contract with SBM Offshore, an expert in floating production and mooring systems, the company assisted the hook-up and commissioning of their FPSO.

28/02/2020: Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) Ltd has secured a three-year contract extension with BP, worth around £30million.

One of the largest providers of emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRV) in the North Sea, VOS will continue its exclusive provision of four class-leading, high-performing vessels to support BP’s North Sea and West of Shetland assets until 2023. These are VOS Discovery, VOS Fairness, VOS Innovator and VOS Vigilant.

25/02/2020: Awilco Drilling PLC has signed a Letter of Intent with Serica Energy for the provision of WilPhoenix for a one well workover on the Rhum field. The program has an estimated duration of 45 to 70 days and will commence between 1st September and 30th October 2020. The contract value is estimated at GBP 5.9 million to GBP 9.1 million (USD 7.8 million to USD 11.9 million).

24/02/2020: Axxis Geo Solutions ASA has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with a major international oil company to commence an Ocean Bottom Node (“OBN”) survey in the North Sea. Subject to fulfillment of certain conditions, the work is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2020. The scope of work will include acquisition of 67 km² of receiver area, comprising of approximately 30 days of operation for an OBN crew consisting of two seismic vessels.

24/02/2020: DOF Rederi has been awarded a 4 wells firm plus 2 well option contract for Skandi Caledonia by Premier Oil UK Limited. Commencement will be in Q2 this year with an estimated duration of circa 100 days per well for both the firm and optional wells.

22/02/2020: YINSON HOLDINGS BERHAD has, via Yinson Production West Africa Limited, Yinson Gazania Production Ltd and Yinson Gazania Operations Limited, entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Aker Energy Ghana Limited with the intent of awarding the contracts to charter, operate and maintain the floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (“FPSO”) for the Pecan development project in the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points (“DWT/CTP”) block, offshore Ghana.

21/02/2020: Deep Down, a specialist in complex deep-water oil and gas distribution equipment and services, today announced that it has received an order from Shell Offshore Inc. for work related to its Whale development in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

The order includes the design, engineering and manufacturing of a Riser Isolation Valve (RIV) control system as well as other subsea production equipment. The RIV control system will be installed on the floating production unit (FPU) to provide shutdown of production fluids.

20/02/2020: Worley has been awarded two master service agreements (MSAs) by Total E&P Mozambique Area 1 Limitada (Total) to provide services to the Mozambique LNG Project. 

Under the MSAs, Worley will provide in-and-out of country services, including engineering, consulting and specialist engineering for delivery of onshore and offshore (subsea) facilities. The services will support the development of the new LNG facility. 

20/02/2020: DOF Subsea announced two contract-awards for international clients in Africa, securing further vessel and resource utilisation in Q1 and first part of Q2 2020.

20/02/2020: Petrofac’s Engineering & Production Services division (EPS) has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract by Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), worth around US$40 million, for a project in the United Arab Emirates.

19/02/2020: Sparrows Group has secured a contract to manufacture three cranes for Qatargas' North Field expansion project.

The project, awarded through engineering firm McDermott International, will see the firm deliver two of its EC750 cranes for installation on wellhead platforms, as well as an EC1000 crane for a riser platform.

18/02/2020: Petrofac Emirates has been awarded two contracts, together worth around US$1.65 billion with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in the United Arab Emirates.

The engineering, procurement (including novated long lead items), construction, transportation, offshore installation and commissioning contracts are for ADNOC’s Dalma Gas Development Project. The work scope encompasses offshore packages at Arzanah island and surrounding offshore fields, located around 140 km off the north-west coast of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

12/02/2020: Aquaterra Energy, a leader in global offshore engineering solutions, has secured a significant agreement from Chevron, through its wholly owned subsidiary in Angola, Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC), to design and support installation of a Sea Swift offshore platform solution off the coast of Angola.

11/02/2020: Oceaneering International announced the award by units of BP of a contract to provide comprehensive riserless light well intervention (RLWI) services offshore Angola in Blocks 18 and 31.

06/02/2020: PGNiG Upstream Norway AS (PGNiG) has appointed Applied Petroleum Technology to conduct post-drilling analyses of its recent Shrek discovery in the Norwegian Sea.

Under the agreement, Applied Petroleum Technology will provide geochemical and biostratigraphic analyses to evaluate where the reservoir the oil sits, its nature and origin.

06/02/2020: McDermott International has been awarded a large contract by BHP to provide subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF), transportation and installation (T&I), pre-commissioning of one jacket and topsides for the Ruby Project, offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

03/02/2020: KBR has been awarded a major Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services contract by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for the Ghasha Concession portfolio of projects.

Under the terms of the contract, KBR will act as the main PMC contractor responsible for managing the successful Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors for Packages A & B of the Dalma Gas Development Project, Packages 1-5 of the Hail & Ghasha Development Project, Hail & Ghasha Islands Project as well as the Deep Gas Project. This work is expected to be performed over four years with an optional extension for two more years.

Renewable

28/04/2020: The Nordex Group received another order for AW132/3465 turbines from Brazil. The manufacturer will supply 17 turbines for its regular customer Voltalia Brasil, for its 58.8 MW Ventos Serra do Mel 4 (VSM4) wind farm. The order also includes a service agreement for service and maintenance of the turbines for a period of 15 years.

24/04/2020: Vestas has secured a 67 MW order for two projects in Vietnam. Vestas will supply, transport, install and commission a total of 16 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines delivered in different power ratings to optimise the projects’ energy output. The customised tower solution takes the turbines to 162m hub heights and opens up new wind resources by allowing access to higher and more consistent wind speeds.

23/04/2020: Subsea 7 announced the award of a substantial contract by Vattenfall for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) 1-4 offshore wind farm project, located between 18-36km off the Dutch coast in the North Sea.

The  contracted work scope includes the transport and installation of approximately 140 wind turbine monopile foundations and 315km of 66kV inner array  grid  cables  in water depths between 18 and 27 metres.

20/04/2020: MMA Offshore has been awarded a contract with a top tier construction contractor to support foundation installation for an offshore wind farm project off the coast of Taiwan.

16/04/2020: Siemens Gamesa’s success in the Swedish market continues after the company secured its third deal in the country for its powerful Siemens Gamesa 5.X next generation platform. The company will supply the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, RES, with 13 wind turbines SG 5.8-155 for the Rödene project near Alingsås, totaling 85.8 MW. The new deal takes the order intake for this turbine platform in the country to 363 MW and strengthens the relationship with RES, which Siemens Gamesa has supplied with over 4.4 GW of capacity since 2000.

31/03/2020: Vestas has secured a 99 MW order for two projects in Jiangsu Province in China. Both projects will feature a mixed site configuration consisting of V155-3.3 MW and V110-2.2 MW turbines.

The order includes supply of 16 V155-3.3 MW and 21 V110-2.2 MW turbines as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement. 

30/03/2020: Vestas has received a 109 MW order for a project in France that includes the supply and installation of 26 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines as well as an Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for a minimum period of 10 years. 

27/03/2020: Maintaining its successful momentum with 200 MW order intake in Vietnam last year, Vestas has now secured its fourth intertidal project in the country with a 29 MW order with Sigma Engineering Joint Stock Company. 

12/03/2020: Tekmar Energy Limited, a Tekmar Group Company, has secured a contract award from French cable installation specialist Louis Dreyfus TravOcean (Subsidiary of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group), to supply TekLink cable protection systems (CPS) for Parc du Banc de Guérande Offshore Wind Farm (Saint-Nazaire).

Saint-Nazaire is a 480MW offshore wind farm set for construction on France’s Atlantic Coast and owned by EDF Renewables and Enbridge. Saint-Nazaire will be the first commercial-scale project installed in French waters and marks a significant milestone for the French offshore wind industry.

06/03/2020: Vestas has received a 36 MW repowering order for the Overgaard II wind project from Wind Estate A/S, one of Denmark’s leading energy companies.

29/01/2020: Vestas has secured a 155 MW order from Stena Renewables AB for the Åby-Alebo wind energy project. Located in Mönsterås Municipality, the project will be the largest wind energy project in the southern part of Sweden.
