Serica Energy publishes inaugural ESG report

29/04/2020

Serica Energy, one of the UK’s major energy companies, now responsible for over 5% of the UK’s gas production, has demonstrated its commitment to building a sustainable energy company by publishing its first Environmental, Social and Governance Report and unveiled a brand new website with additional focus on transparent reporting of its environmental performance.

As it is only one year since Serica became operator of the Bruce, Keith and Rhum fields in the UK North Sea, this initial Report lays the foundations for ongoing provision of guidance for stakeholders on the Company’s approach to sustainably managing its business. In the Report Serica explains its approach to ESG in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Core Option to enable comparison with peers and other industry sectors.

As a further sign of the Company’s commitment to focusing senior leadership on environmental challenges, Serica created a new role and appointed Clara Altobell VP ESG and Business Innovation. Clara's 25 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry will enable her to review emerging technology and appraise innovations that might enhance performance.

Serica’s 2019 ESG Report can be accessed here.
