Petrobras has confirmed that Mr. Pedro Parente resigned from his position as CEO of the company.
Parente said his presences was no longer positive in light of strikes over the company's nearly year-old policy of allowing the market to set the price of fuel.
Shares of the company, commonly called Petrobras, were down more than 20 percent in midday trading on Friday following the resignation.
The nomination for an interim CEO will be analyzed by the Board of Directors in due time. The composition of the Executive Board remains the same.
