Decom North Sea Appoints Market Expert as Interim MD following CEO Departure

27/03/2020

Decom North Sea (DNS), the only membership organisation dedicated to the oil and gas decommissioning sector, has appointed Will Rowley as interim Managing Director, following the departure of John Warrender as CEO.

Commencing his role with immediate effect, Will brings over 30 years’ industry experience to the role, 20 of which have been dedicated to offshore market-led intelligence and strategic planning. From 2009 - 2020, he held the position of Vice President & Group Analyst for subsea specialist, Acteon Group, gaining a global reputation for the delivery of strategic growth, structural change and commercial development.

A contributor to the original Decom North Sea business plan, he has been involved with the organisation since its inception in 2010. In addition to a three-year tenure as Board Director, he has collaborated closely with DNS’ key strategic partners, having worked with the Oil & Gas Authority on the industry sector development deal, and as advisor to both the OGUK annual Decommissioning Report and the Oil and Gas Technology Centre’s Decommissioning Solution Centre.

Commenting on his new role, Will said:
“These are challenging times - not only in our industry, but on much, much wider terms - and together with the recently-restructured Board of Directors, I am committed to refocusing our direction, helping our members successfully negotiate the many stages of the decommissioning journey, from peak production through to removal, against this evolving background.”

Jinda Nelson, Chair of Decom North Sea’s board of directors added:
“Decom North Sea has long benefited from Will’s depth of industry-wide, and sector-specific, knowledge and experience. His current position within the organisation will ensure that we achieve our fundamental objective of bringing relevant support, exposure to opportunities, knowledge and experience to our membership."
