Oil production in Brazil exceeds 1 billion barrels in the year for the first time

Total oil production in Brazil in 2019 was 1.018 billion barrels, an increase of 7.78% in relation to the volume produced in 2018, when 944.117 million barrels were produced. The total production of natural gas in 2019 was 44.724 billion cubic meters, an increase of 9.46% over the 40.857 billion cubic meters registered in 2018.

In the consolidated for the year, the pre-salt produced 633.980 million barrels of oil and 25.906 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which corresponds to increases of 21.56% and 23.27%, respectively, in relation to the production of 2018, when 521.543 million barrels of oil and 21.016 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced.

In December 2019, oil production was 3.106 million barrels per day (MMbbl / d), exceeding the record recorded in the previous month by 0.52% and the production of December 2018 by 15.44%. natural gas production also surpassed the previous month's record, registering an increase of 0.87% and reaching an average of 137.8 million cubic meters per day (MMm3 / d). In relation to December 2018, the variation was 21.19%.

Pre-salt production in December corresponded to 66.82% of national production, totaling 2.655 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe / d), of which 2,118 MMbbl / d of oil and 85.4 MMm3 / d of gas Natural. In relation to the previous month, total production increased 2.58% and 40.62% in relation to December 2018. Once again, the Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, registering 1.074 MMbbl / d of oil and 45 MMm3 / d of natural gas.
