A trio of new leadership appointments have been made by the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA). 

Scott Robertson has been promoted to Director of Operations. Scott will be responsible for the OGA’s Exploration, Production, Decommissioning and Technology agenda. In December 2019, Pauline Innes was appointed as Head of Decommissioning, while in October 2019, Alistair Macfarlane was promoted to Area Manager – SNS and EIS.

Ocean Installer announced the appointment of Odd Strømsnes as the company’s new CEO in January 2020. Mr Strømsnes was most recently managing director at TIOS, a Technip FMC and Island Offshore joint venture, and has more than 25 years of experience from the global subsea industry holding various senior executive and board roles. He was managing director for Technip Norge from 2010 to 2016.

In early January, LEKOIL announced the appointment of The Rt. Hon. Mark Simmonds and Mr. Tony Hawkins as Non-Executive Directors, with immediate effect.

Mr. Simmonds was the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Minister with responsibilities for Africa, the Caribbean, UK Overseas Territories, International Energy and Conflict Prevention. He served as a Member of the UK Parliament for fourteen years and was also a senior advisor to the then Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Mr. Hawkins is an English and Australian qualified lawyer of twenty years' experience, who has worked in both private practice and corporate roles. He is a senior energy lawyer, asset manager and commercial negotiator, predominately in oil and gas but also in power, LNG and renewables.

Effective January 3, 2020, EQT Corporation appointed David Khani as chief financial officer. Mr. Khani joined EQT from CONSOL Energy, where he had been executive vice president and chief financial officer since 2013.

Subsea 7 S.A. announced changes to the Executive Management Team, effective from 1 January, 2020.

John Evans is now in place as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Jean Cahuzac who retired at the end of 2019. Other changes to the Executive Management Team include the addition of three new members who previously held senior roles within the Company: Olivier Blaringhem has been appointed Executive Vice President - SURF and Conventional, Steph McNeill has been appointed Executive Vice President - Renewables and Phil Simons has been appointed Executive Vice President - Projects and Operations.

Occidental Petroleum announced that Andrew Gould, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Schlumberger Limited, has been elected to its Board of Directors effective March 1, 2020. 

In December, Hurricane Energy announced the appointment of Ms Beverley Smith as a non-executive director of the Company with immediate effect.

Ms Smith is a chartered geologist and an accomplished business leader with 30 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas sector. During a successful international career with BG Group, she delivered a portfolio of strategic, commercial, project and people leadership achievements, most recently as Vice President Exploration & Growth for Europe.

In mid-December, James Berwick, CEO, resigned from Anglo African Oil & Gas with immediate effect in order to take up the full-time role of CEO of Anglo Tunisian Oil & Gas Limited ("ATOG"), of which he is a director and significant shareholder.

James Cane, who has been finance director of the Company since 2016, assumes the role of Interim chief executive and the Company will commence a search for a new CEO.

Effective January 1, 2020, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Harold Hamm took on the role of Executive Chairman at Continental Resources. William Berry has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and President Jack Stark will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Paul D. McKinney has resigned as President and Chief Executive Officer and as a Board member of SandRidge Energy.

Savannah Petroleum announced the appointment of Antoine Richard as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer, with effect from 12 December 2019. Antoine will be based in Lagos, and is replacing David Clarkson who, having served as Chief Operating Officer since June 2018, will be returning to his role on Savannah’s Board as a Non-Executive Director.

The Weir Group has announced changes to its Group Executive including two new appointments that strengthen Weir's focus on sustainability and technology.  

Paula Cousins will become Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer, recognising the critical role Weir's innovative engineering has in making its main markets more sustainable, including reducing energy, waste and water consumption.  

Garry Fingland will also join the Group Executive as Chief Information Officer with responsibility for Group-wide information and technology systems including the Group's digital products.  

Holt Energy Advisors appointed Simon Grewcock to lead the company's commercial consultancy practice. Simon has almost 30 year’s experience in the upstream oil and gas sector with a range of roles including asset and commercial management and technical and petroleum engineering positions. 

Tony O’Reilly has stepped down from the position of Chief Executive Officer of Providence Resources and resigned from the Board (and all subsidiaries) with immediate effect. 

Early in December 2019, Steve Whyte, Chairman of Genel Energy resigned with immediate effect.

Jadestone Energy announced the appointment of Lisa A. Stewart as a Non-Executive Director of the board, effective December 1, 2019.

Ms. Stewart currently serves as Executive Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sheridan Production Company LLC, which she founded in 2006. Lisa has served as Executive Vice President of El Paso Corporation and President of El Paso E&P. 

Global integrated mechanical and electrical services company EnerMech announced the appointment of industry heavyweight Christian Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer at the beginning of December 2019.

Prior to his appointment Chris held senior leadership roles within US Fortune 500 companies Kellogg Brown & Root and Foster Wheeler with tenures working across Europe, Africa, Middle East, APAC and the Americas.
