Geologists of North-West PGO JSC (SZPGO, a subsidiary of Rosgeologia JSC) have successfully completed the summer field season of geological surveying in the Uragub and North-Sergozersky areas in the Murmansk region under contracts with the All-Russian Research Geological Institute named after A.P. Karpinsky.

“Our task is to compile sets of maps of a modern geological base for a scale of 1: 200 000 (the author’s version of the State Geological Map-200) with digital models that will include maps of Quaternary formations, minerals and patterns of their location,” explained Oleg Vasin, Managing Director of the North-West District of Navigation, "In the field season of 2019, our geologists coped with all the tasks. The received samples were transferred to the laboratory for study, and we proceed to the stage of desk processing of the results. "

Upon completion of the work, a set of second-generation state geological maps (in digital and analog versions) will be compiled, prospective areas will be localized and forecast resources for P3 category of precious metals and other minerals will be updated. An assessment will also be made of the prospects of ore-bearing granitoids of the Litsik-Aragubsky complex, localized within the Uragubskaya area, and associated metasomatites.

In accordance with the technical assignment of the state contract, on Uragubskaya Square in the north-west of the Murmansk Region, NWFP specialists will prepare a set of nomenclature sheet cards R-36-XXVII, XXVIII of the State Geological Card-200. A set of nomenclature sheet cards Q-37-VII, VIII and a map of pre-Quaternary formations will be prepared along Severo-Sergozero Square, located in a remote area in the southeast of the Kola Peninsula. The total area of ​​the territory to be studied by geological survey is 12,445 km².

Contract work is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
