Gazprom and Lukoil discuss JV for development of Vaneivisskoye and Layavozhskoye fields

26/03/2019

Gazprom and Lukoil continue to prepare for implementation of a project for a joint development of the Vaneivisskoye and Layavozhskoye fields in the Nenets autonomous district. Issues of cooperation were discussed by head of Gazprom A. Miller and president of Lukoil V. Alekperov during a working meeting in Moscow earlier this month.

During the meeting they discussed progress and prospects of the cooperation within the framework of a general agreement between Gazprom and Lukoil on a strategic partnership. This agreement is for the period from 2014 to 2024. As part of the strategic partnership, Lukoil, in particular, supplies gas to Gazprom's gas transportation system.

Gazprom received a subsoil site of federal significance, including the Vaneivisskoye and Layavozhskoye fields in 2016. During the auction there was serious competition between Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil-Komi, a subsidiary of Lukoil. Gazprom won by offering 23.3 billion rubles for the subsoil site, which was 3 times higher than the starting price.

The Layavozhskoye oil and gas condensate field, discovered in 1971, has hydrocarbon reserves on the C1+C2 categories of 9.8 million tons of oil and 140.1 billion cubic meters of gas. The Vaneivisskoye oil and gas condensate field was discovered in 1973 and has reserves on the C1+C2 categories of 6.5 million tons of oil and 85.2 billion cubic meters of gas.

The agreement on the joint development of the Vaneivisskoye and Layavozhskoye fields within the joint venture was signed by Gazprom and Lukoil in May 2018.
