Repsol begins production of gas from the Sagari field in Peru

  • The total production of block 57, where the Sagari field is located, increases by 25%, to 5.6 million cubic meters per day, equivalent to a quarter of gas consumption in Peru.

Repsol has started the production of gas in the Sagari field, located in block 57, in the Cusco region (Peru), increasing the company's commitment to gas in its reservoir development strategy.

Overall, the start-up of Sagari will increase production of the block by 25% to 5.6 million cubic meters as of January 2018, approximately a quarter of Peru's total gas consumption.

Repsol, which has a 53.84% stake, is the operator of the field, discovered in 2012 and in which the Chinese company CNPC (46.16%) also participates.

Block 57 is located east of the Andes mountain range, in one of the most prolific gas zones in Peru, where the Kinteroni field, also operated by Repsol and in production since 2014, is in turn.

The company has been present in the Peruvian market for two decades, having become a benchmark in the country's energy sector with presence throughout the value chain

Repsol is one of the main energy operators in Peru, where it has rights over four blocks, three of them in production. In addition, the company operates La Pampilla, the main oil refinery in the country, has a network of more than 480 service stations and participates in the market of lubricants, aviation fuel and asphalts, among others.
