Peninsula Celebrates 30 Years as a Global Leader in Marine Energy

21/04/2026

Peninsula, the leading independent marine energy supplier, is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of growth, innovation, and leadership in the global shipping and energy sectors.

Founded in 1996 as a small marine fuel supplier built on integrity and quality service, Peninsula has transformed into one of the industry’s most trusted partners. Today, the company operates 21 commercial offices and supplies marine fuels across more than 500 ports worldwide. Its network of over 50 strategic physical supply ports and storage facilities forms the backbone of Peninsula’s global operations, enabling efficiency, reliability, and scale.

Peninsula’s logistics are further strengthened by vessels owned by and chartered through its sister company, Hercules Tanker Management, ensuring safe, high-quality deliveries whilst offering independent freight solutions to the wider tanker market.

As the maritime industry enters a pivotal era of decarbonisation, Peninsula is leading the transition toward cleaner energy. The company continues to expand its lower carbon offerings, including biofuel infrastructure, LNG and bio-LNG supply and trading, and a growing portfolio of alternative marine energy solutions that help global shipping comply with rapidly evolving regulations.

“Our ambition has always been to do business the right way, with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to our customers and partners,” said John A. Bassadone, CEO and Founder. “As we celebrate 30 years, we remain focused on delivering reliable energy solutions today while innovating for a zero-carbon future.”

With more than 500 employees representing over 40 nationalities, Peninsula’s diverse and highly skilled team remains central to its success and long-term strategic vision. Their expertise ensures seamless coordination across global markets and supports the company’s reputation for operational excellence, rigorous governance, and safety-first delivery.

“People have always been our greatest asset,” added John. “Their dedication is what has transformed Peninsula from a small supplier in 1996 to a global leader in 2026. This still feels like the beginning of our journey, and as we grow and diversify every year, the opportunities before us are incredibly exciting.”
