With activity across the UKCS accelerating and capacity tightening, Decom Mission CEO, Sam Long, predicts that 2026 will be a defining year for the UK’s decommissioning industry.

Decom Mission’s Decom Week – Decommissioning in the Here and Now, returns to Aberdeen 25 – 29 May, and is expected to bring  together 300+ industry leaders, policymakers and supply chain representatives from across the energy sector to address the future of decommissioning including the scale up of activity, the profound impact of global circumstances, workforce constraints, and the sustainable unlocking of opportunity across the energy industries.

Explaining the context behind this year’s conference, Sam comments:
“This year, Decom Week goes beyond the headlines and gets into the real detail of where the decommissioning industry is today, and where it’s heading. From an in-depth sector pulse-check on activity levels, costs and timelines, to honest conversations about capacity constraints, global market pressures and the role of decommissioning within the energy transition, Decom Week is about grounding the big themes in practical reality.

The conference also includes both indoor and outdoor exhibition space, with the outdoor area offering a rare chance for the decommissioning community to experience major pieces of equipment and technology at close quarters.

In keeping with tradition, Decom Week’s agenda will provide a diverse range of opportunities to build connections throughout the event, via social events including golfing and cycling, whilst also shining a spotlight on the leading achievements in decommissioning excellence at the ninth Decom Mission Awards.
