ALNAFT to Feature at the Africa Energies Summit 2026

02/04/2026

Frontier confirms that ALNAFT will feature at the Africa Energies Summit 2026, bringing the Algeria Bid Round 2026 directly to the international upstream community.

Algeria is actively engaging with the industry in a deliberate, structured push to re-engage global capital at a time when investment is being deployed more selectively than ever.

What is particularly compelling about this round is how it has been built.

National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources "ALNAFT" has run a full nomination process with industry, shaping the offer around real feedback from operators rather than putting acreage out and hoping for interest. The result is a focused package, expected to centre on a shortlist of high-priority blocks drawn from a wider pool of identified opportunities across the country’s key basins.

The blocks come with significant existing seismic coverage, well data and, in many cases, proximity to infrastructure, which matters in today’s market where speed to value and capital efficiency are critical.

Set against Europ'e ongoing demand for secure gas supply and Algeria's scale as an established producer, this round offers a strategic position in the North Africa region.

What makes this important at the Africa Energies Summit® | Africa’s Premier Global Upstream Conference | 11th - 14th May 2026 is access. For many in the room, this will be the first real opportunity to sit down with ALNAFT leadership, including ALNAFT President, Samir BEKHTI to have direct, commercial conversations on:

  • Structure of the bid round
  • Blocks and acreage on offer
  • How the data packages are being positioned
  • Where Algeria believes it can compete for capital globally

This is exactly the role the Summit plays, not just showcasing opportunities, but creating the environment where governments and investors can engage properly, early, and at the right level.

Samir Bekhti, President of ALNAFT

Samir Bekhti was appointed President of the National Agency for the Development of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) in Algeria in August 2026. With over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, the new President has held several key positions within ALNAFT since 2011, including Head of the Contract Management Department and then Director of the Audit Department.

A member of the Board of Directors since 2018, the President also chaired the committee responsible for organizing the international tender “Algeria Bid Round 2024.” Thanks to his experience at ALNAFT and Sonatrach, Samir Bekhti possesses solid expertise in financial management, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation—essential skills to support the strategy for developing national energy resources.
