GB Energy today confirms that its headquarters will be established in the Marischal Square development Aberdeen, reinforcing the city’s pivotal role at the heart of Britain’s energy industry and marking a major step forward in the UK’s transition to clean, secure, and affordable power.
The decision follows detailed engagement with stakeholders across the UK. Aberdeen was selected in recognition of its world-leading energy expertise, highly skilled workforce, strong engineering base, and proven track record in offshore innovation. As the historic centre of the UK’s energy sector, Aberdeen is uniquely positioned to lead the next chapter — from oil and gas to renewables, hydrogen, and carbon capture.
The new headquarters will be based in a modern, low-carbon office development in central Aberdeen, designed to meet the highest environmental performance standards. It will serve as GB Energy’s strategic and operational hub, housing executive leadership, project delivery, supply chain coordination, and research and development functions.
The establishment of the HQ is expected to support over 1,000 direct jobs in its first phase, alongside thousands more across the wider supply chain. GB Energy will work with local universities, colleges, and training providers to expand skills programmes, apprenticeships, and transition pathways for workers moving into renewable and low-carbon roles.
