Sizewell C Rounds Off Successful Year of Careers Fairs With Lowestoft Event

05/12/2025

  • The project, along with more than a dozen supply chain partners, will be at East Coast College, Lowestoft, on 9 December
  • About 1,500 people have attended Sizewell C careers fairs since the start of the year
  • At peak construction, at least a third of the 7,900-strong workforce will come from East Anglia

Sizewell C is preparing to host its final careers fair of the year, rounding off a hugely successful series of events across Suffolk.

The nuclear power project, under construction on the Suffolk Coast, together with more than a dozen supply chain partners, will be at East Coast College in Lowestoft on 9 December from 11:00 to 14:00.

This event marks the culmination of a series of careers fairs during 2025 that have attracted about 1,500 attendees and connected local people with opportunities.

The fair will showcase a wide range of roles linked to the Sizewell C project, including apprenticeships, highly skilled trades, and professional careers. Attendees will have the chance to meet the team, explore training pathways, and learn how to get involved in one of the biggest clean energy projects in Britain.

Stuart Allsopp, Jobs Service Lead at Sizewell C, said:
“This final careers fair is a celebration of what we’ve achieved this year in opening doors for local people. We’ve seen incredible interest and engagement, and we’re excited to finish the year by showcasing even more opportunities for the community. I want to thank not just all of those who have attended our careers fairs this year, but our wonderful supply chain partners too. Their passion and enthusiasm have helped make these events so successful, and I’m already excited to see what 2026 has in store.”

The event will take place inside the Nucleus Employability Hub, launched last year by East Coast College and in partnership with Sizewell C. The hub brings together regional services, training, and employability expertise to reach untapped local talent and provide pathways into employment and skills development.

Paul Padda, Principal and CEO, East Coast College, said:
“Sizewell C will create thousands of roles over the next decade, spanning construction, engineering, project management, environmental work, and support services. At the fair, you can meet employers, training providers, and apprenticeship coordinators who will explain how to gain the skills needed for these roles. Whether you’re starting your career, looking to retrain, or aiming for progression, this event offers direct insight into future opportunities and how to prepare for them.”

Other Sizewell C careers fairs this year have been held in Lowestoft, Leiston and Ipswich. At peak construction, at least a third of the 7,900-strong workforce – around 2,600 jobs – will come from East Anglia.

Sizewell C has also committed to providing at least 1,500 apprenticeships, including 540 for Suffolk residents, and has pledged to deliver at least 500 jobs respectively for people in Lowestoft and Ipswich during the construction phase.
