Jbs has completed the installation of an automated pressure test bay roof system in Rio de Janeiro.
Designed to retrofit older pressure test bunkers with no existing roof, or to integrate with new-build units, the system is suitable for both concrete and steel bays. The retractable design allows crane access and full use of the test bay while maintaining safety during tests.
The system enhances containment within high-pressure testing environments, supporting blast-resistant safeguards that protect personnel and infrastructure during critical test operations.
Options include interlocked doors controlled by the PLC or SCADA system, remote cameras and pressure sensors. When a test is active, the system can automatically lock all access points and prevent manual override.
Electrically operated, the system benefits from:
Precision and control
- Powered by a small electric motor providing high positional accuracy and repeatability. Easier integration with digital control systems (PLC, IoT, automation).
Clean and low maintenance
- No hydraulic fluid – eliminates leaks, contamination, and disposal issues.
- Lower routine maintenance compared to hydraulic pumps and hoses.
Energy efficiency
- Power is consumed only during movement, with no continuous pump operation. Well suited for intermittent or variable load applications.
Compact and lightweight
- No requirement for hydraulic power units, reservoirs, or piping.
- Ideal for space-constrained environments.
Safety and environment
- No risk of fluid spills or fire hazards from hydraulic oil.
- Quieter operation than hydraulic systems.
Ease of installation
- Plug-and-play wiring instead of complex hydraulic plumbing.
- Simplifies retrofits and upgrades.
