Slicker Recycling Announces New Equity and Shareholder Addition

25/11/2025

Leading UK oil and waste recycling firm Slicker Recycling has announced a major new shareholder who will provide industry expertise as well as the injection of significant new capital into the business.

Dr Andreas Weinberger

The recycling firm has announced that Dr Andreas Weinberger, via his investment company, has become a significant shareholder in Greenbottle Limited, the parent company of both Slicker Recycling and Re:Group and co-investor in AVISTA Green the Danish re-refinery company.

The German entrepreneur, who will also join Slicker Recycling’s executive board, is recognised as one of Europe’s leading circular economy authorities on waste oil collections and re-refining. During his decade as CEO and Chairman of the German recycling firm AVISTA Oil AG, Dr Weinberger was instrumental in shaping the global re-refining industry.

Over the coming months, he will be providing new capital to support Slicker Recycling’s continued growth.

Mark Olpin, executive chairman of Slicker Recycling said:
“Andreas brings immense oil waste sector experience not just to Slicker Recycling, but to the group as a whole.

“We are thrilled to welcome him as a shareholder, but also as someone who’s expertise, knowledge and strategic guidance will be invaluable in supporting the next stage of our growth plans.

“Andreas has a deep understanding of the sector, our business and where we see ourselves in the market. He will play an integral role in our success in the months and years ahead.”

Dr Andreas Weinberger added:
“Slicker Recycling has leading credentials in the used oil and wider waste management industry. Aside from my new shareholding in the business, I am delighted to be working closely with the executive team and look forward to playing my part in the company’s growth and development.”

Headquartered in Worcestershire and with depots across the UK, Slicker Recycling employs over 200 people.

With nationally-recognised environmental credentials, in 2020 the company opened a £70 million base oil re-refinery in Denmark through a joint venture with German partner, Avista Oil AG. In 2024, the company was awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise, in recognition of its growth in the UK and within mainland Europe.

The company handles over 75 million litres of used lubricating oil every year.
