Getech’s latest Globe update brings data rotation and expanded online access for resource exploration teams

Getech, a world-leading locator of subsurface resources, has released the second update this year to Globe, its flagship geoscience analysis platform. The new release, Globe 2025.2, cements Globe’s position as the go-to solution for subsurface resource exploration and introduces a much-anticipated Data Rotation capability, a breakthrough for visualising data in its proper palaeogeographic context.

Globe models 400 million years of Earth’s evolution, providing 40,000 data layers to support exploration of minerals, natural hydrogen, petroleum and geothermal energy, as well as assessment of carbon storage potential. By integrating machine learning with geoscience expertise, advanced geological modelling and geophysical data, Globe provides a digital twin of Earth’s geologic development. This enables users to understand how evolution of the planet has influenced the location of natural resources, making discovery faster and easier today.

With Getech’s commitment to continuous innovation and providing data-led exploration services and solutions, the Globe 2025.2 release offers even more value to its customers:

  • Enhanced Dynamic Plate Models: Provides critical insights into tectonic activity and resource formation, helping users identify areas rich in hydrocarbons, geothermal energy and critical minerals such as copper and lithium.
  • Data Rotation Capability: Enables users to play data (e.g. seismic lines, well data, license data) backwards and forwards through geologic time using Getech’s industry-leading advanced global plate model – e.g. from the present day back to any stratigraphic stage, all within the Globe environment. This makes it possible to visualise data in its palaeogeographic context, improving understanding of tectonics, depositional systems and conjugate relationships. Multiple datasets can be rotated across multiple time slices and returned to present day.
  • Globe Online: Introduces a new web-based application giving Globe clients fast and simple access to core Globe data layers on desktop, tablet or smartphone. Featuring Present Day and Palaeo Stages in a single integrated environment, Globe Online uses the same cloud-based data as Globe for ArcGIS Pro, built on Esri’s latest web technology. This offers an updated user interface and improved accessibility, enabling users to visualise core Globe data anywhere, on any device.

Chris Jepps, CEO at Getech, commented:
“Our ongoing dialogue with customers and evolving understanding of their needs and use cases drive the innovation behind Globe. With these new features, Globe is now even more powerful and versatile, while maintaining its core as a fundamental knowledgebase with unique data and an easy-to-use interface that delivers actionable insights for resource discovery.”
