Aneo Acquires Its First Wind Farm in Finland

09/12/2024

Aneo has acquired the Kokkoneva wind farm from Greencoat RenewablesC. The park consists of 9 turbines with a combined capacity of 43.2 MW. This provides a total production of 129 GWh, or nearly the annual electricity consumption of 13,000 Finnish households. The facility has been operational since 2022.

CEO of Aneo, Gunnar Hovland:
"The Nordic power system is rapidly evolving in response to the ongoing energy transition. This has led to greater volatility and fluctuations in the market over the past few years, but it also presents opportunities. This acquisition allows us to establish a fully integrated value chain in Finland at a highly competitive price."

Aneo is already present in both Sweden and Finland, providing services in energy optimization. Since its inception, there has been a continuous search for strategically suitable renewable energy production projects to meet high ambitions of being a significant player in the Nordic climate transition and creating profitability for owners, communities, and customers.

Executive Vice President for Renewables at Aneo, Kari Skeidsvoll Moe:
"I am very pleased that we are now establishing ourselves as a power producer in Finland. This is a strategically important first step into the Finnish power market and is an investment we look forward to building on in the years to come."

CEO Hovland also reminds of the upsides that lie in the combination of a long-term ambition and a market with an energy deficit:
"We have a long-term mindset and in recent years have built a solid portfolio of value-enhancing energy market services for several large wind power companies in the Nordic region. With our own production that can be further developed in Finland, Sweden, and Norway, our position as a Nordic renewable energy player is strengthened, and this acquisition spreads our geographical exposure to a challenging market with an energy deficit."
