Red Rock Renewables has officially launched its relocated headquarters at 30 Semple Street, Edinburgh – a future-focused workspace that reflects the company’s identity as a leading player in the renewable energy sector.
The move marks a major milestone in Red Rock’s growth journey, providing a space designed to support collaboration, innovation and long-term expansion, all underpinned by the company’s commitment to sustainability.
To mark the official opening, Red Rock welcomed key industry figures and renewable energy partners to a launch celebration on Thursday 22nd May. Guests were invited to explore the new space and see first-hand how sustainability principles have shaped every aspect of the design and build.
“Our new home is more than just a place to work – it’s a statement of intent,” said Claire Hart-McCullagh, Head of Corporate Support at Red Rock Renewables. “From the materials we’ve chosen to the way we use the space, this office embodies our values and our vision for the future.”
Located in one of Edinburgh’s greenest commercial buildings, the office meets some of the highest sustainability standards in the industry. Sustainability has been a priority from day one – from the decision to leave Princes Street and donating furniture and IT equipment to local charities, a construction approach which saw less than 1% waste go to landfill, to the conscious design choices made throughout the fit-out.
Key features include:
- Use of sustainable, plant-based based and or recycled materials throughout the space wherever possible, from acoustic panelling made from plastic bottles to recycled material carpets.
- Reusing and reupholstering furniture with plant-based fabrics to reduce waste and extend product life.
- Real wood finishes throughout – from the reception area to the large communal tables in the staff community space.
- A biophilic approach to design, incorporating over 430 real plants, which offer benefits such as air purification, noise reduction, energy conservation, and improved well-being.
The project was made possible through close collaboration with a skilled and dedicated team of partners, including our project managers and principle designer Reid Mitchell, workplace designer consultant Form Design, principal contractors Mpact, furniture providers Source, quantity surveyors Torridon, Wallace Whittle MEP, structural engineers Blyth and Blyth, and our plant experts, GP Plantscapes, to name a few.
Red Rock Renewables CEO, Xiaomeng Chen, said:
“This new office represents a significant investment in the future of our business, and in our people. It’s a space that supports innovation, encourages collaboration, and reflects the values that drive us every day.
“We’re proud to have created a workplace that not only meets high sustainability standards, but also inspires those working within it to keep pushing for a cleaner, greener energy future.”
With the move to Semple Street, Red Rock Renewables has created a workspace that not only reflects the company’s sustainable ethos, but also provides an inspiring, future-ready environment for its people and partners.
