In a significant milestone for Namibia’s energy future, NAMCOR and joint venture partners TotalEnergies, QatarEnergy and Impact Oil and Gas are targeting a Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Venus field by early 2026.
Located in Block 2913B, offshore southern Namibia, the Venus project is progressing with the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) phase, following regional stakeholder engagements in April.
“The accelerated development of this project is a clear signal of our commitment to Namibia’s energy future,” commented Victoria Sibeya, Acting Managing Director, NAMCOR.
With water depths reaching 3,000 metres, Block 2913B is among the most technically ambitious offshore projects in Africa.
The push toward development underlines the scale of opportunity within Namibia’s energy sector – and sets the stage for the conversations and collaborations that will take place at the upcoming 3rd Namibia Oil and Gas Conference (12–15 August 2025) in Windhoek.
Block 2913B, covered by PEL 56, lies offshore southern Namibia and spans around 8,215 square kilometres in water depths of up to 3,000 metres. TotalEnergies EP Namibia operates the block with a 50.5% stake, while QatarEnergy holds 30%, NAMCOR 10% and Impact Oil and Gas 9.5%.
