Rose Subsurface Assessment and Geological Engineering Network are pleased to offer CEEC members the opportunity to attend a one-day beta version of the course "Risk and Uncertainty Assessment of Geothermal Projects for Authorities and Decision Makers" at a symbolic fee of €150 in exchange for detailed feedback. The course will take place on the 14 of May in Zagreb, ahead of the 60th CEEC Event (15-17 May), at a venue provided by the CHA. Limited number of seats available due to venue capacity.
A reliable geothermal risk assessment methodology is key to business decisions. It must be based on widely accepted principles, be easy to apply, be auditable and produce consistent results. In the course, we propose a new approach derived from risk definitions of the hydrocarbon industry. Geothermal projects do not have a single parameter that represents their value, but several. We propose a workflow to assess geological and commercial risks and uncertainties.
Course Program
The course is structured in one day. It begins in the morning with two introductory sessions. The first (alignment session) aims to establish a common understanding of the relevant principles and terminology of the geothermal business. The second will focus on the framework for assessing the risk and uncertainty of a geothermal project. The afternoon will be devoted to the presentation of a new methodology developed for the evaluation of geothermal projects, illustrated by a case inspired by the geology of Croatia. The course will conclude with a wrap-up session to summarise and discuss the main points.
Who should attend
This course is intended for authorities, decision-makers and, more generally, anyone who deals with the risks and uncertainties of geothermal projects and needs to understand them, even if not actively involved in the assessment process.
Developers of the course
The course has been developed by a consortium made up of Geological Engineering Network Srl and Rose Subsurface Assessment.
Geological Engineering Network Srl
Geological Engineering Network (GEN) is a network of highly experienced geothermal and oil and gas experts who have worked for major and independent companies including Enel Green Power (EGP - a world leader in geothermal power), Shell, ENI, Repsol, OMV and others - as well as renowned figures in academia. Together, the team has hundreds of years of experience and offers world-class skills and expertise in geothermal and oil and gas development.
Rose Subsurface Assessment
Since the year 2000, Rose Subsurface Assessment (Rose) has specialized in subsurface risk analysis, teaching key concepts in managing risk and uncertainty, and implementing consistent evaluation procedures. It provides support to the energy sector and authorities through courses, consulting, and software. Rose comprises 18+ experts including engineers and geoscientists, located globally, each with over 25 years’ experience in subsurface projects.
