Emergy Sells 168MW Serbian Wind Farm

26/02/2025

Emergy, a leading Nordic renewable energy developer, and its partner WV International this week announced a landmark agreement for the sale of the 168 MW Alibunar wind project in Serbia to Heavy Energy International.

"This transaction marks a significant milestone in our mission to expand sustainable energy solutions across Southeast Europe," says Joar Viken, CEO of Emergy.

WV International is a Dutch-Belgium based developer. Heavy Energy International is a Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Sany Renewable Energy, an international top tier turbine manufacturer.

The sale includes the project rights for Alibunar Windfarm A and B, located in the Alibunar municipality in Serbia. The projects were developed to meet the highest international standards and are expected to generate approximately 480 GWh of electricity annually. On February 21st 2025, the projects succeeded in securing Market Premiums in Serbia’s Renewable Energy Auctions. Upon completion of construction and grid connection, the electricity generated by Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2 will be sold to Serbia’s state-owned power utility, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Following the sale, Emergy and WV International will remain committed to continue developing its wind projects with a total capacity of approximately 700 MW of high-quality projects in Serbia.

As a leading Nordic renewable energy developer, Emergy has rapidly expanded its portfolio since 2022, and holds over 2 GW of projects under development across Serbia, Romania, Greece, and Ukraine. This growth reflects the company’s dedication to addressing the global energy transition while creating compelling investment opportunities in high-potential markets.

"With this agreement, we continue to position ourselves as a driving force in Southeast Europe’s renewable energy revolution, offering investors unparalleled opportunities to contribute to and benefit from the shift to clean energy," Viken says.
