Planning permission has been secured for the Cobholden Solar Farm, located near Staploe, Bedfordshire.
This significant milestone marks a major step forward in their commitment to support renewable energy and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The solar farm will be capable of generating up to 49.9MW of clean, low-cost renewable electricity. In addition to the solar panels and associated infrastructure, the application includes significant ecological and landscape enhancement such as tree and scrub planting, hedgerow enhancement, and wildflower areas. Overall, the scheme will deliver over 100% net increase in the biodiversity of the land.
Richard Stanton, Chairman of Cambridge Power says:
“We are delighted to secure permission, under delegated powers for this solar farm from Bedford Borough Council.
“The planning permission was granted following extensive consultation with local residents and stakeholders, ensuring that the project meets the highest standards of environmental and community considerations.”
This approval follows the recent approval of the Thorney Solar application for 49.9MW solar and 50MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in July 2024 and represents the 13th successful planning approval for Cambridge Power since 2019, bringing the total capacity of consented projects to over 750MW.
