- The Greenvolt Group, through Solarelit powered by Greenvolt, and Cimbali Group are expanding their 15-year partnership with the launch of a new decentralized renewable energy project in Venice.
- This collaboration has already led to the installation of photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 800 kWp, which prevent the emission of 2,400 tons of CO2 annually, at the facilities of the historic coffee machine manufacturer in Binasco (Milan) and Cappella Cantone (Cremona).
- A new 230 kWp project is currently under development at the Dolo site, supporting sustainable energy production at the Cimbali Group facility in Venice and further strengthening the partnership between Solarelit powered by Greenvolt and Cimbali Group.
Solarelit powered by Greenvolt, a company specialized in renewable energy and part of the Greenvolt Group, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, and Cimbali Group, an Italian multinational specialized in the design and production of professional espresso machines and equipment for the coffee industry, are expanding their long-standing collaboration with the launch of a new decentralized renewable energy project at the Dolo site. The new installation, currently under construction, includes 460 new photovoltaic modules with an installed capacity of 230 kWp, enabling the more sustainable production of high-quality coffee machines and equipment at the Cimbali Group facility in the province of Venice, where the Group has been operating since 2019 following the acquisition of Macine Keber.
The collaboration, which began in 2010, has already led to the installation of photovoltaic systems at Cimbali Group facilities in Binasco (Milan) and Cappella Cantone (Cremona), with a total capacity of nearly 800 kWp. These systems generate 3,700 MWh of energy over an area of 4,500 square meters, enabling the company to reduce its CO2 emissions by 2,400 tons annually.
In line with the European Union’s sustainability goals, Cimbali Group is committed to increasing the use of renewable energy as part of a broader sustainability culture strategy. Currently, 54% of the energy used by the Group comes from renewable sources, with 7% self-produced. Cimbali Group has thoroughly analyzed its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which forms the basis for setting ambitious reduction targets to guide its sustainability efforts.
"Developing a new project with a leading company in its field, such as Cimbali Group, is a significant achievement for the Greenvolt Group and reflects the trust placed in our distributed generation solutions and our ability to implement them," said João Manso Neto. "The benefits of solar energy for self-consumption, both from a financial and environmental standpoint, are increasingly evident for companies. That is why we remain committed to expanding our pan-European platform of decentralized solutions, supporting decarbonization efforts, including those of global companies like this one", added the CEO of Greenvolt Group.
"We are proud of this long-standing collaboration and the strong ties we continue to strengthen with an iconic Italian company like Cimbali Group. Its third project, which we are developing in the Venice region, brings our total installed capacity to over 1 MWp. Agreements like this, supported by Greenvolt’s international expertise in distributed generation, reinforce our leadership in the Italian decentralized renewable energy market, allowing companies to produce, self-consume, and share clean energy, reducing costs and improving energy efficiency", said Andrea Faini, CEO of Solarelit powered by Greenvolt. "We have been collaborating with Solarelit powered by Greenvolt for 15 years, having completed several projects, from the installation of photovoltaic systems to environmental redevelopment initiatives", said Chiara Cardarola, Sustainability Manager of Cimbali Group. "This is certainly a partnership that has brought numerous benefits to our operations, reducing the Group's reliance on non-renewable energy sources and improving our environmental impact. We hope to inspire other companies to follow our example by relying on industry professionals to combine innovation and sustainability".
To respond to the growing demand for self-produced energy, Solarelit powered by Greenvolt has recently launched new distributed generation solutions in Italy to support local companies in maximizing the production and sharing of renewable energy.
The new Distributed Energy Configuration, which includes Renewable Energy Communities (REC), Collective Self-Consumption Groups, and Remote Individual Self-Consumers, optimizes the use of locally generated renewable energy, enabling public sector entities and local communities to benefit from energy produced by photovoltaic systems through virtual sharing models that maximize the use of locally generated renewable resources.
