It is with deep emotion that I learned of the death of Albert Frère.
My emotion comes from the respect I have for this visionary business leader, who loved his country and never stopped investing to develop competitive industries and services.
By deciding, with Thierry Desmaret, to merge Fina and Total in 1999, he contributed to the emergence of a new world energy player, and the Total Group, as we know it today, owes him a lot.
This emotion is also personal: my interactions with Albert Frère, full of wise and expert advice, have been very valuable to me.
On behalf of the Total Group, I want to extend my supportive thoughts to his family and employees.
