Parkwind Sells Northwind Stake to Aspiravi

21/03/2024

Parkwind, the offshore wind energy developer wholly owned by JERA Co. Inc., has sold its 30% stake in the Belgian wind farm Northwind to Aspiravi, one of its partners in the project who exercised its rights in accordance with contractual provisions.

Northwind, one of the earliest offshore projects in the Belgian North Sea co-owned by Aspiravi 40%, Sumitomo 30%, and Parkwind 30%, has a capacity of 216 MW with 72 turbines and have been generating clean energy since 2014.

“Parkwind, as an early mover in offshore wind in Belgium and still one of the leading investors and service providers to the Belgian offshore wind industry, remains committed to deliver clean and sustainable offshore wind energy to Belgian households and businesses,” said Francois van Leeuw of co-CEO of Parkwind. “We today safely and efficiently operate 201 turbines in the Belgian North Sea, and we’re fully committed to continuing to lead Belgium’s energy transition and look forward to engaging in future projects.”

Parkwind/JERA will remain dedicated to advancing the development of new offshore wind sites and maintaining our commitment globally, including Belgium, to scale and accelerate our transition to sustainable energy sources and make green energy available and affordable for everyone.
