Business Event Set to take Deep Dive Down Under

06/02/2024
  • Supply chain partnerships, navigating energy transition, offshore decommissioning and opportunities for UK businesses as part of meeting the increase in demand in Perth, WA will be among the headline topics for a major business event taking place this week.
  • The subjects are among those which will be highlighted during the much-anticipated return of the Aberdeen-Perth, WA Gateway hosted by Granite PR and taking place at Aberdeen’s Norwood Hall Hotel on February 8th.  Now in its sixth year, the event will link key global hubs in Scotland and Australia and provide a platform for international networking, knowledge sharing and discussion.
  • Heading up an impressive line-up of speakers will be the Government of Western Australia’s UK/European representative, John Langoulant.  He will be joined by fellow guest speakers including Dr Francis Norman of the Centre of Decommissioning Australia (CODA) in addressing what is set to be the event’s largest ever turnout.

The Aberdeen-Perth, WA Gateway builds on the success of the now well-established Gateway series of events by creating an international bridge and acting as a springboard to further strengthen the links between the locations as well as facilitating additional opportunities between participating businesses and attendees.

Looking ahead to the event, John Langoulant said:
“It will be a pleasure to be back in Aberdeen advancing the strong relationship between Aberdeen and Perth underpinned through both cities’ involvement in the World Energy Cities Partnership. As all jurisdictions seek to advance ambitions towards net zero, governments and industry will play a fundamental role in ensuring the road to net zero is forged in a pragmatic way.

“I look forward to the discussions at the Aberdeen Perth Gateway, where we will explore the synergies between our jurisdictions, and opportunities for partnership across offshore supply chains as we seek to navigate the energy transition together.”

Dr Francis Norman added:
“I will provide an update on the current status of offshore decommissioning in Australia with a particular focus on the growth of the local industry and opportunities for UK businesses to be part of meeting the increasing demand for services.

“With Australia beginning to see a significant volume of decommissioning projects being awarded for execution in the next few years, putting pressure on the supply chain and ports alike, Francis will also provide an overview of CODA’s recently completed study looking at the readiness of WA ports to support both decommissioning and offshore wind.”

The Aberdeen-Perth, WA Gateway 2024 is supported by Global Underwater Hub, Scottish Development International, OGV, Qantas and Motive Offshore.
