Merkel receives document urging Berlin to go against Nord Stream-2

07/11/2018

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel has received a letter from 69 European parliamentarians, who call for a change of position in relation to the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project and as a result to abandon it, the Sputnik Lithuania reports.

The letter was also signed by deputies from Lithuania with the exception of Victor Uspassky, Rolandas Paxas and Waldemar Tomaszewski.

The document says that Merkel, supporting the project, splits the European Union. The deputies also say that the construction of the Nord Stream-2
pipeline contradicts the European energy policy and reduces the energy independence of Germany.
