dCarbonX has announced the appointment of Ellie Zemani as Project Director at dCarbonX Bains Ltd for its Bains Gas Storage Project in the UK East Irish Sea.

Ellie has held various senior asset and project management roles at Spirit Energy and Centrica from 2011 to date. Ellie’s most recent role was asset manager for a portfolio of SNS assets for Spirit. 

Before that, Ellie was a project manager in Spirit’s Capital Projects, leading teams to deliver growth, decommissioning, and complex modification projects. 

Ellie is a chartered project professional and ECITB mentor with MSc-level skills in engineering, law, and economics. Her MSc Project at Heriot-Watt focused on integrated risk management of hydrogen and CO2 storage developments. In 2018, Ellie was recognised as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50).

dCarbonX, an associate company of Snam S.p.A., Europe’s largest gas infrastructure operator, was awarded Gas Storage Licence GS007 by the North Sea Transition Authority in May 2023 and is, subject to further regulatory approvals, proposing to develop Bains for gas storage where it estimates a storage capacity equivalent to three to four days’ supply for the UK, providing a boost to the UK's energy security. dCarbonX is also evaluating the licence for the potential future storage of hydrogen.
