Equinor granted drilling permit for well 34/8-18 S in production licence 120

29/10/2018

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Equinor ASA a drilling permit for well 34/8-18 S.

Well 34/8-18 S will be drilled from the drilling facility on the Visund A platform.

The drilling programme for well 34/8-18 S relates to the drilling of wildcat wells/appraisal wells in production licence 120. Equinor ASA is the operator with an ownership interest of 59 per cent. The other licensees are Petoro (17 per cent), ConocoPhillips (13 per cent) and Repsol (11 per cent). The area in this licence consists of part of block 34/8. The well will be drilled on the Visund field.

Production licence 120 was awarded on 23 August 2005 in licensing round 10A on the Norwegian Shelf. This is the 16th well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent on the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling activity commences.
