Television presenter Josie D’Arby will be hosting this years AFBE GALA!

Josie is an award winning television presenter, filmmaker and artist who was born and raised in Wales, UK to Jamaican parents.

Josie has worked extensively throughout her now 37 year career, presenting programmes for all the major networks and working on some of the UKs most iconic shows. This year Josie presented for Wales Tech Week, a week long exhibition showcasing Wales achievements and hopes in the tech space, she also hosted Talent4Tech a platform for inspiring careers in STEM.

As an artist and fan of structural engineering , as of autumn 2023 Josie’s painting of the iconic Newport Transporter Bridge hangs in Newports very own public gallery and is part of their permanent collection, which it is believed, makes Josie the first black woman in that collection.

Josie D’Arby commented:
“At school my best subject was maths, and I have always had an interest in technology and science. I see many connections between STEM and the creative sector and as time moves on my interest in this field grows so I am delighted to be here at AFBE and with you all. I am thrilled to be hosting this years Gala and to play a small part in celebrating diversity in engineering, now more than ever. These amazing career paths need to have a light shone on them and be more visible, giving young people the opportunity to see (and aspire to work in), fields that really makes a difference.”
