The Chairman and CEO of the SONATRACH Group, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI, led a high-level delegation made up of senior executives of the SONATRACH Group during a visit this week to the National Oil Company (Libya), in Tripoli.

This visit is part of the formalization of the process of resuming the activities of the SONATRACH Group in Libya, after an observed shutdown of several years, and will allow the execution of the contractual obligations of the SONATRACH Group in the field of exploration, concerning blocks “065” and “96/95” located in the Ghadamès basin.

This resumption of activity has begun following the official notification sent by SONATRACH concerning the lifting of the state of force majeure, in response to the invitation from the National Oil Corporation (Libya) addressed to international companies operating in the field of oil and gas.

The SONATRACH delegation was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NOC Libya, Mr. Farhat Omar BENGDARA, along with officials of this company. During this meeting, Mr. BENGDARA welcomed the resumption of SONATRACH's activities in partnership with NOC Libya and expressed his desire to promote the bilateral partnership and strengthen the cooperative relations between the two Companies.

During this meeting, the two parties committed to implementing all measures to facilitate the resumption of the SONATRACH Group's activities in Libya and to continuing a privileged partnership between the two companies.

It should be noted that a group of high-level experts bringing together specialists from both partners will work on implementing the technical aspects of this resumption of activity, during working meetings scheduled for November 8, 2023.
