Whether it’s an off the cuff remark in passing from a trainee or from a company trying to get staff out on a job in time, we hear about actions being “a tick in the box” a lot. But training should never just be a tick-box exercise and that starts with the people delivering the course, as Laura Moir, Operations Manager in our training team based in Aberdeen explains:

“I am immensely proud of the training team we have at EnerMech. All our Instructors are experienced, knowledgeable and passionate individuals who genuinely really care about what they do. They see the importance and relevance of the years they’ve spent building up experience in their chosen fields and now choosing to impart that knowledge to others. They are constantly building on that knowledge and even use their own time to improve themselves to elevate our trainee experience. They take pride in what they do, of their training centre's facilities and inclusive welcoming culture they foster, and that comes across in the courses they deliver.

“Not everyone can be an instructor. It takes a certain type of person to capture the attention of a class. It is challenging to stand up in front of a group of strangers, some new to the industry and others who have been doing their job for years. How do you find the common ground, break the ice, get their attention? A good instructor will make a novice feel included as a valued member of the class while encouraging lively discussion and debate with more experienced attendees. Everyone leaves the course knowing more than they came in with. No such thing as “you can’t teach an old dog……”

“Regardless of your experience, think of training as investment in yourself. Learning new skills and updating your knowledge adds value to YOU. We live in an age of constant upgrades and whether it’s phones, cars or computers, everything is constantly being updated, improved, becoming more advanced. Training is no different. EnerMech’s highly qualified and personable instructors will provide you with the most accurate, up-to-date information and techniques to keep your learning journey moving.

“Above all, our instructors promote the fact that training is about self-development, being the best you can be in your role and above all, getting you and your colleagues home safely after your shift wherever you are in the world. Your families depend on us to show you how to protect yourself and those around you, and we take that responsibility very seriously.”
