EEEGR Appoints New Executive Chair

24/09/2023

EEEGR has announce the appointment of Kevin Keable as their new Executive Chair.

With a career spanning over 30 years in the energy industry, Kevin brings a wealth of experience and a global perspective to the role having worked in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Australia and Norway, where he honed his skills in the industry.

Kevin posted the following message to members below:

"When I joined EEEGR back in the early noughties, I can honestly say it was one of the smartest businesses decisions that I made. The EEEGR team always ensured that I was made aware of brilliant business development opportunities at each and every networking event. We showcased our innovations at the awards ceremony, we went to the Aberdeen Offshore Europe Exhibition on the EEEGR stand and we won contracts on the back of those networking events. In my first two weeks I’ve found two potential opportunities for EEEGR members, both locally and internationally.

My intention as the new leader of EEEGR is that we can bring you those same opportunities. Over the next few months, we will be upgrading the EEEGR offering to you and the rest of the supply chain. There is boundless energy in the eastern region, and with it there are endless opportunities. Together, let’s make sure we keep this region firmly on the energy map for the UK and the rest of the world.

I have already started to talk to the government about how they can help this region, about funding for innovation. I am speaking to offshore wind developers, companies working on gas extraction and plug and abandonment, nuclear developers, geothermal, solar and many more.

EEEGR is going to be better, we are going to be more efficient, bigger and stronger and we are going to bring a lot of energy into this region and our industry.
So please engage with EEEGR and join the wider energy community, if you’re currently focused on oil and gas or wind, why don’t you ask us to help you enter new sectors? Why not ask us to help you find funding for your next innovation? We are YOUR Membership organisation, we can only get better if we get feedback, so please get in contact with us.

My background: I started my career as an ECITB apprentice, in Mechanical and Production Engineering at Lowestoft College and George Prior Engineering, fitting and technical drawing. In 1983 I joined the oil and gas industry as an offshore technician, working for Nowsco Well Service and within two years was running a department in Stavanger, Norway, where I learned to speak Norwegian (test me)!

Moving into business development and project management, I transferred back to the UK to work in the pipelines division, working on major safety projects and R&D before becoming region manager for the Asia pacific business unit based in Singapore. The next few years saw me developing businesses in Thailand, Europe, Singapore & Australia from the ground up before moving back to the UK permanently in 1999. In my second year back, I rescued a failing oil and gas manufacturing company and then moved into consultancy, working in contracting, Bolt Tensioning and Management Development & International Security.

Then in 2006 Oilennium, an eLearning company and EEEGR member company was born. Oilennium rapidly gained international success and was a finalist in the EEEGR Innovation Awards! I sold the business to Petrofac in 2012.

For the past few years, I’ve taken a slight back seat from the energy business whilst I developed an Award Winning, 15 plot, self-build, eco-house development near Norwich.

And now I’m happy to be back, working with old colleagues and meeting new ones."
