  1. CEOs from energy companies bp, Centrica and Shell rank among the top five in the FTSE 100 companies list for receiving the highest pay increases in 2022. bp chief executive Bernard Looney tops the charts with a pay difference of £5.57 mn, rising from £4.46 mn in 2021 to more than £10 mn in 2022. BP saw profits reach $27.6 bn in 2022, up from $12.8 bn the previous year, reflecting the impact price increases have had on the energy sector.
  2. According to Bloomberg, Equinor is considering selling some of its operations in Azerbaijan, including a 7.27% stake in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, the country's largest oil project.
  3. TotalEnergies and INPEX have signed an agreement with PTTEP for the acquisition of its 100% interest in the AC-RL7 permit, which encompasses two gas fields in the Timor Sea, offshore Australia.
  4. Oil production in Nigeria slumped by 15.5% in July from June to 1,081,396 barrels per day (bpd) from 1,248,960 bpd produced in June, marking the third month-on-month decline since April, according to data from the local upstream regulator. 
  5. A former president of Opec has been charged in the UK with taking bribes during her time as a government minister in Nigeria. Diezani Alison-Madueke is alleged to have benefitted from £100,000 in cash, chauffeur-driven cars, flights on private jets, luxury holidays for her family, and the use of several London properties, in exchange for awarding oil and gas contracts, according to a report published in The National. 
  6. Ecuadorians voted on Sunday to stop an oil-drilling project in the Yasuni region of the Amazon with 59% voting yes on a proposition that will end the practice.
  7. Brazilian oil and gas player, Enauta, has successfully concluded the drilling and completion of another well in its drilling campaign at the Atlanta field offshore Brazil. The company has also commenced drilling activities at the last well of this campaign.
  8. Cheiron has made a new oil discovery in the Geisum and Tawila West Concession in the Gulf of Suez. The well was drilled from the recently installed GNN Early Production Facility (the “EPF”) and has been successfully placed on production at a rate of over 2,500 bopd. As result of the new well, and the successful drilling campaign conducted to date on the field, the gross oil production from the Concession has reached 23,000 bopd, compared to 4,000 bopd before the GNN field was developed.
  9. Wood Group has upgraded its revenue and profit guidance for the year after it was boosted by new contracts. Shares in the London-listed oil and gas engineering business climbed higher on Tuesday morning as a result.
  10. Apache Corporation, an oil and gas exploration subsidiary of Texas-based APA Corporation, plans to invest $1.4 billion in Egypt next year, according to Apache President and CEO John Christmann.
