British renewable heat tech disruptor Naked Energy today announces the appointment of Miguel Matias as Commercial Director. 

With over 25 years of global consulting and executive experience in the energy sector, Matias plays a crucial role in driving Naked Energy’s rapid international expansion. His role focuses on strengthening the business’s foothold in its European and US markets, and scaling the production of its award-winning solar heat technology.  

Prior to joining Naked Energy, Matias’ extensive career has seen him manage well over 500GWh of renewable energy projects across 4 continents and develop expertise in sustainability and a variety of renewable energy technologies, including renewable heat. 

He spent over 17 years as the CEO of Self Energy Group, the UK’s first decentralised energy services company (ESCO), in which he oversaw renewable energy projects across Europe, Middle East, South America and Africa.  

Beyond his role at Naked Energy, Matias is also an angel investor working with Energy Planet developing several energy start-ups across the UK, Spain and Portugal. 

With several large-scale international installations underway, Naked Energy’s cutting-edge Virtu solar thermal technology is being used to generate renewable heat for commercial and industrial buildings across the globe.  

In the next few years the market for renewable heat will undergo a significant shift based on latest IEA predictions stating 30% of buildings globally will use solar heat systems by 2050. Naked Energy’s Virtu product range is perfectly positioned to play a leading role in the forecasted market expansion.  

Matias’s expertise in the sector will help accelerate Naked Energy’s growth and ensure the business grows strategically across key industries of hospitality & leisure, large scale residential developments as well as industrial process heat.
