CONSUB extends consultancy contract with ONGC

12/01/2023

CONSUB this week announced the award of an extension to their existing Project Management Consultancy Services contract with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the $5bn NELP Block KG-DWN-98/2 Cluster 2 project. The contract duration has been extended from the initial 38-month agreement with an additional 18 months, completing the work by the end of December 2023. This is based on first oil being achieved in May 2023.

In May 2019, a consortium of CONSUB in the UK and Nauvata Private Engineering in India was awarded the Project Management Consultancy Services contract by ONGC, New Delhi in India. ONGC is the largest government-owned oil and gas explorer and producer in India and produces approximately 70% of India's crude oil (equivalent to around 57% of the country's total demand) and approximately 84% of its natural gas.

The deep-water field development project located on the east coast of India in the Bay of Bengal comprises subsea wells tied back to an FPSO for oil export and via a fixed platform to onshore facilities for gas export.

Frank Nunan, Managing Director at CONSUB, said:
"We are very happy to continue to support ONGC on this world-class project. A huge effort has been made to help steer this project through extremely challenging times, with the COVID pandemic occurring right in the middle of the main manufacturing phase. Despite the challenges, the project has progressed and achieved accelerated first gas production in 2020 and striving to reach first oil in 2023.”

Ashwin Raikar, Chief Executive Officer at Nauvata Private Engineering, said:
"Happy to be associated with CONSUB on this challenging project as a consortium partner. CONSUB brings along world class subsea and project management capabilities to this project. There are many more challenges ahead of us and I am confident that together we will deliver this project successfully and we are looking forward to achieving the first oil in 2023.”
