Lord Frost is joining the Board of Trustees of the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF).

The former diplomat, civil servant and politician served as a Minister of State at the Cabinet Office between March and December 2021 after becoming a Conservative Peer in September 2020. Previously he was Britain’s chief negotiator during the Brexit negotiations, after spending much of his professional career at the Foreign Office.

Lord Frost said:
“For too long the costs of Net Zero policies have not been given adequate attention by policy makers or the media. There is far too much wishful thinking about pressing ahead with decarbonisation as quickly as possible, and too much demonisation of those who are asking legitimate questions.”

“I am delighted to become a Trustee of the GWPF, which has done so much to highlight the pitfalls of poorly-thought through climate and energy policies. The terrible crisis in Ukraine has shown the vital need for energy security and a more cost-effective approach to climate policies.”

In a GB News interview with Liam Halligan this morning Lord Frost said:
“One of the things we most need is open debate, full and frank debate. GWPF has been very good at promoting that, over a decade and more, giving an objective view of what is going on – and I very much want to be a part of that.”

“A lot has changed since COP 26 in Glasgow. We need to move away from the assumption there is only one way to deal with this problem, squeezing out all other debate, squeezing out people who want to widen the frame of debate and have a more rational discussion. Free speech, free debate and the free exchange of ideas is always the best way to get the best solutions.”

Nigel Lawson, the founder and honorary president of the GWPF, said:
